Ozuna is rising to the top
Ozuna isn’t just the crossover star of the future. He’s also setting new standards for what it means to be a superstar, and blazing his own trail to the top.
Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado is at the top of his game at 26, and a constant presence on Latin music charts, but his success is largely measured via streaming, particularly on YouTube. The Puerto Rican-born reggaeton and Latin trap sensation regularly receives hundreds of millions of views for video versions of his singles, and his collaboration with Romeo Santos, “El Farsante,” topped 1 billion views since being published on Jan. 30.
He’s a prolific collaborator, multiplying the marketing power of any single he appears on, including those of Akon, Anuel AA, Bad Bunny, Cardi B and Luis Fonsi, among many others. His duet with Cardi B, “La Modelo,” the first single from his sophomore album Aura, brought him into the pop music spotlight as 2017 gave way to 2018, and a guest turn alongside Cardi B and Selena Gomez on DJ Snake’s “Taki Taki” brought him to the top of the electronic dance charts last month. It’s only a matter of time before his first English language single, and complete crossover success.
