Re-creating the famed New York City skyline is no easy feat, but MGM Resorts International accomplished it with aplomb in 1997, with a vintage version right on the Las Vegas Strip. Since then, the hotel and casino has been the perfect kitsch for visitors wanting to pretend to visit the Big Apple. With many themed restaurants, bars, shopping and attractions that help give visitors a taste of what it would be like to experience the charms of NYC, we’ve picked three of our favorite spots to grab a bite, have a cocktail and have some fun when on property.

1. Village Street Eateries

One of the best neighborhoods in actual New York City is Greenwich Village, and at the hotel they’ve re-created the cobblestoned streets, brownstones and eateries, all with a kind of Disneyland vibe. Stroll through the streets and dine on everything from pizza and frozen yogurt to Mexican and American. A few notable stops are Fulton’s Fish Fry for its fish and chips, the Village Bakery for fresh-made pastries and Greenburg’s Deli for a New York-style, piled-high-with-meat sandwich.

2. The Big Apple Coaster & Arcade

A roller coaster on the Las Vegas Strip? Oh yeah! And it speeds up to 67 mph, drops more than 200 feet and features a 180-degree “heartline” twist. The Big Apple Coaster rumbles through the property and outside—so you’ll get glimpses of the city while you climb the tracks and speed around the buildings, giving riders the only thrill of its kind on the Strip. For more family fun, stop by before or after your ride at the Big Apple Arcade, where classic carnival games can be played for tickets, which you can cash in at the redemption center for an assortment of prizes. More games include a whole wall of pinball machines and another wall of claw machines; air hockey; Skeeball; and so much more. For some adults-only fun, stop by the Arcade Friday through Sunday beginning at 9 p.m. for the weekly Coaster n’ Cocktails pop-up bar with music, drinks specials and deals on the coaster and games.

3. The Chocolate Bar

Take the kids to the behemoth Hershey’s Chocolate World but grab the adults for an even sweeter treat at the nearby Chocolate Bar. Here you can order one of many chocolate martinis like the Peppermint Pattie, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup or the specialty, the Hershey’s chocolate caramel. Or try one of the Jolly-Tinis—specialty cocktails that use Skyy vodka infused with assorted Jolly Rancher candy flavors, served in a candy-rimmed glass. Other specialty martinis include classics like the lemon drop, Manhattan and Cosmopolitan, or fun flavors like strawberry lemonade and mango coconut.
