Model cocktail server heats things up at Wet Republic
Angela Backus wants people to know one thing about Wet Republic. “We have really small bikinis this year,” she said, laughing. But it’s true.
While the eye candy is sure to be plentiful this year at the popular MGM Grand pool club, where Backus works as a model cocktail server, she’s most excited about the DJ roster. “People always tell me they can’t believe I get to see all these DJs perform every weekend … that I get to party right along with them.” She’s talking about DJs like Calvin Harris and Dada Life, who perform during the grand-opening weekend, April 5-6. “I get paid to tan, party and have fun. Sometimes it doesn’t even feel like work.”
But, not so fast. Backus is in fact, working her tail off taking care of guests at Wet Republic. She keeps a constant smile on her face, even when running back and forth in 100-degree temperatures. “I look out for my guests, take care of them first and foremost,” she said. “I make sure everyone gets the VIP treatment.” When Backus is your server, you also get a friend. “Honestly, I’m not a big flirt. I’m like their homie, their best friend,” she explained. “I feel like there’s this relationship and they trust me.” Backus noted that all the model cocktail servers give guests nothing but the best service … And, it doesn’t hurt that “they’re all smokin’ hot.”
Sounds like there might be no hotter place to party and play this pool season than at Wet Republic.
Wet Republic offers a bevy of libations including beverage packages that come with champagne and spirits, both available in magnum size. Also on the menu is the Make It Rain package: 10 bottles of champagne to spray out onto the crowd. If you’re looking for a refreshing cocktail to sip poolside, try the Rainstorm. It mixes Ketel One Citroen, Midori melon liqueur, pineapple juice, sweet and sour and blue Curaçao, topped with a splash of club soda. For those watching their diet, skinny cocktails are available—just 150 calories.
