Channel your inner Annette Funicello by romping around one of the newest pools to open in Las Vegas—dubbed Picnic, it evokes that retro vibe of the 1950s. The rooftop venue on the third floor of the new Downtown Grand takes the nostalgia of spreading out a plaid blanket and bringing food in a basket and plants it around an infinity pool with views overlooking the downtown scene.

The 35,000-square-foot pool even has fire pits and 12 communal picnic tables to evoke that parklike quality. Manicured hedges and pops of lime green furnishings add to that vibe. While capturing that bygone era, Picnic has its own modern amenities. Surrounding the pool, you’ll find 15 cabanas with misters, lounge chairs and daybeds. Those who want a pool party in the cabanas need only spend $150 on food and beverage with their reservation.

Even the food here reminds you of a lazy summer day in the park. A garlic edamame and edamame dip, chicken wings, hand-tossed pizzas made from scratch, fish tacos and the Picnic burger make the menu, while homemade ice creams and gelatos finish any meal. For drinks, find the Grand Beginnings made with Absolut Raspberri vodka, peach schnapps and cranberry juice or the refreshing Downtown Sweetness with Smirnoff vanilla vodka, pineapple juice, grenadine and just a splash of ginger ale.

Gambling is never far away in Vegas, and at Picnic, it comes in the form of four blackjack tables where guests can play a hand or two in their swimwear. Live music and film screenings round out the summer entertainment. Picnic provides the setting, now you just need the swimsuit to create the perfect summer outing.
