Vegas’ Miracle Mile Shops unwraps hottest trends in winter fashion
Miracle Mile Shops general manager Jerry Irwin has only been in his job for a year and already the changes to the shopping center sitting next to Planet Hollywood Resort are coming alive. “We’re open 365 days a year, including Thanksgiving and Christmas,” Irwin says. “Some of our new retailers will open before the holidays. We have 15 restaurants and two theaters, and 72,000 people pass through every day.”
While the shopping center doesn’t whoop up the holidays quite like traditional malls, it is the spot to shop the planet along the 1.2 miles of boutiques, restaurants and more that line the mall. “We’re always changing and always adding new retailers. We have some great, exciting things going on at the property. We’re excited about taking it to the next level.”
Indeed, the changes are exciting. Shoe Palace opened its fourth Vegas location filled with almost every imaginable sports shoe. If that’s not enough sports for you, try the new House of Hoops by Foot Locker that just opened.
Alex & Ani brought its sustainable approach to jewelry, which covers bangle bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings. The motto here is to “adorn the body, enlighten the mind and empower the spirit.”
Even the dining options expanded, with the addition of national build-your-own burrito chain Chipotle and its Mexican cuisine.
For women’s attire, ANGL brings its contemporary fashions from Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles to Miracle Mile Shops, part of its West Coast expansion. ANGL has already entered into the spirit of the mall and its new neighbors by offering a 10 to 20 percent off discount for those with tickets to Britney Spears, the pop icon who has a resident show at the neighboring Axis Theater.
Desigual, the fashion brand out of Barcelona, brings its carnival of patchwork patterns, splashy colors, graffiti art and asymmetrical designs with its second location on the Strip. Expect that to open early next year.
Cosmetics are on the way, too. Lush is going full-on in Vegas, opening its boutique filled with all-organic bath bombs, moisturizers and soaps, marking the third location for the green company in Vegas. By the time December rolls around, MAC Cosmetics expands its footprint in Las Vegas with a 1,090-square-foot store.
For those who love Michael Jordan’s line of sneakers, the first stand-alone Jordan Brand concept store west of the Mississippi River opens in the first quarter of 2015.
But the biggest changes to the Miracle Mile Shops comes next fall when a 60,000-square-foot redevelopment along Harmon Avenue wraps ups. “Restaurants and nightlife will make it fun and walkable, day and night,” Irwin says. “It will give that side of the property a whole new look.”
The renovated space plans to feature a new entrance to the restaurant-heavy side of the mall as well as new dining spots, each with a streetscape look. Look for that construction to break ground early next year.
