MGM Resorts International hosts three-day culinary extravaganza
Never before have connoisseurs of fine dining and wine had access to a three-day culinary extravaganza on par with what MGM Resorts International has planned for Oct. 12-14.
Most of the events are at Mandalay Bay. While Hubert Keller’s Sunday morning brunch at Fleur was sold out by the last week of September, Saturday’s A Family Affair: A Bloody Mary Brunch presented by Michael Mina at StripSteak still had room. The 10:30 a.m. event offers a menu of unforgettable items as well as Mina himself serving beignets and Bloody Marys.
At 11:30 a.m. chef Charlie Palmer and Mandalay Bay's Director of Wine Harley Carbery present Wine the Day Away, a four-course lunch at Aureole where Carbery will pair dishes with a premier selection of Foley Family Wines.
Sipping and socializing over sharable plates is the plan at Libertine Social on Saturday and Sunday at 5 p.m. for Hey Chef! A Social Meal with Shawn McClain of Libertine Social (and Sage at Aria) and chef James Trees.
Elsewhere, the Martha Stewart Wine and Food Experience (800.745.3000 Ticketmaster) features the titan of taste herself both teaching a master class as well as hosting a grand tasting on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. (noon for V.I.P.s) at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds near the southwest corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and West Sahara Avenue.
The weekend culminates in the James Beard Foundation’s Celebrity Chef Tour (jamesbeard.org), beginning with a 6 p.m. cocktail reception hosted by Luxor executive chef Justin Frederickson at Luxor. Seven prominent chefs from across the U.S., including Larry Forgione, Mary Sue Milliken and Nancy Silverton, will collaborate on an unforgettable meal worthy of being served at New York’s famed James Beard House.
