October is one of the most packed months for food and beverage events in Las Vegas, and here are just a few of the fun things to check out this weekend:

Haute Cuisine at The Palazzo brings the Master Chefs of France onboard for a gourmet food festival poolside, focused on healthy, quality, environmentally friendly dishes and beverages that are “organic, biodynamic and sustainable.” The Master Chefs involved in this year’s event are Steve Benjamin, Gerard Bertholon, Simon Bregadis, Olivier Dubreuil, Jean Joho, Pierre Landet, Bruno Lopez, Patrick Ponsaty, Frederic Perrier, Michel Personnaz, Pascal Petiteau and Jacques Sorci. The annual Great American Foodie Fest, essentially a carnival focused on food, runs through Sunday at Sunset Station in Henderson. Admission includes entry all days; food and drink sold separately. Family-owned Freed’s Bakery holds the grand opening for its second location, Freed’s Dessert Shop, in the Vegas valley this weekend. Free and open to the public, the event offers samples, raffles, outdoor games and other fun. You might know Freed’s from the TV show Vegas Cakes, or you might know them because you stop in for a boatload of cookies every time you’re near the shop. 6475 N. At Downtown Grand, a month-long celebration of the resort’s 5th anniversary starts Friday at 5 p.m., with $5 food and cocktail specials at Triple George, Freedom Beat, Citrus Pool and Furnace Bar, and runs through Nov. 5.
