On the Strip: Vagabond

Las Vegas always was a sports town. By adding its own major league teams to the mix, the city has taken its sports identity to the next level and continued to diversify its overall entertainment offerings. You can tell sports are a bigger deal because of all the sports-friendly bars and pubs that have popped up on the Strip in recent years.

The newest tavern evolution is at the Excalibur, one of the closest resorts to Allegiant Stadium, which will be the home of the NFL's Raiders next season. It's called Vagabond (702.597.7449), it's ideally situated right off the main level of the bustling casino, and it's all about casual fun.

The environment is upbeat and includes classic bar and arcade games while watching the game and enjoying savory snacks like hot dogs and brats, barbecue chicken quesadillas, fried dill pickles with black garlic ranch, and Buffalo cauliflower bites. Satisfy your appetite with beef brisket or fried baloney sandwiches, the pork belly-stacked Vagaburger or honey-habanero chicken wings.

Off the Strip: Su Casa

Mi Casa Cantina & Grill has long been home to one of Las Vegas' favorite happy hours, but the restaurant within that Mexican restaurant offers some delicious daily specials of its own. Su Casa (Silverton, 702.263.7777) is an innovative sushi bar that's already building a following for its sashimi, nigiri and rolls, as well as creative coastal Mexican cuisine. Happy hour small plates include togarashi-spiced pork rinds, sweet and spicy chicken wings and crisp calamari among sushi faves like spicy tuna rolls and new dishes like fried softshell crab with honey cornmeal masa.

#trending: Lago

It's challenging, to say the least, to choose from the expansive menu of exquisite small plates at chef Julian Serrano's Lago (Bellagio, 702.693.8865). Make it easy on yourself with the three-course tasting lunch menu, a bit of a greatest-hits selection. Our recommendation? Start with the refreshing seafood salad with crisp julienne vegetables and a bright and tangy grapefruit dressing, then indulge in the four-cheese lasagna verde. The chef will handle your dessert selection to cap it all off. Enjoy!
