Do you know how they say that when you lose one sense your other ones are heightened? Check out that theory at Blackout Dining in the Dark, where you’ll need to rely on just four main senses: taste, touch, smell and hearing. When you enter the restaurant for your meal, you’ll sign in and make your culinary choices, then a guide will take you to your table. And, yes, it’s completely dark. Initially, you may feel a bit intimidated, but you’ll find conversing with your companion is way more focused.

You’ll get appetizers, main course and dessert, and it’s quite the adventure and a challenge to see if you can figure out what is being served without seeing it. The dishes are really, really good, and touch on those salty, sour, sweet, bitter, umami notes. It may seem like an easy thing, but it’s much harder than you think to discern the difference between grains and pasta when you can’t take a look. Your server will guide you with clues to where your meal is, but it’s up to you to figure out how to use your silverware.
