Despite the abundance of world-class restaurants in Las Vegas, you’re probably most excited to eat at In-N-Out Burger. They’re not only known for their pretty-good-for-fast-food burgers, but for their simplicity—you get a burger, fries, and a milkshake. You’re not going to rack your brain figuring out what to order. Head to a steakhouse on the Strip and it’s a different story. One look at the wine menu and your head might explode. Yet, some restaurants realize their guests might desire a dining experience that’s simple and comprehensive of the menu. Thus, the prix fixe tasting menu—multiple courses, limited options, one fixed price. Dining this way makes life a little easier for you, quashing any pressure you might feel to curate the perfect meal for yourself, allowing you to sit back and enjoy everything coming your way.

Let’s start with a few tasting menus from chefs you might recognize from TV. Since Tom Colicchio’s Heritage Steak (866.339.4566) recently reopened at The Mirage, they’re welcoming back guests with a special three-course menu for $68. Entrées include filet mignon, roasted farm chicken, king salmon and the delicious truffle burger served with fig ketchup. Pro tip: Complement your meal with the Heritage Manhattan, which is garnished with a hickory-smoked cherry. Down the street at Gordon Ramsay Steak (702.946.4663) inside Paris, chef Gordon Ramsay serves a five-course menu that is not only superb, but has everything you’d expect. You’ll get the Ramsay trinity of risotto, beef Wellington (with a side of butter poached lobster) and sticky toffee pudding. Hamachi crudo and a Scotch egg are also included. At $155, it’s a little pricey, but worth every penny.

You may be less familiar with world-renowned chefs Michael Mina and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, but their tasting menus are not lacking in star power. At Mina’s StripSteak (702.632.7200) inside Mandalay Bay, the $60 three-course tasting starts with a little gem Caesar salad or tiger prawns, moves on to Scottish salmon, Mary’s brick chicken or a flat iron streak, and finishes with a decadent slice of cheesecake. Jean Georges Steakhouse (877.230.2742) at Aria offers a similar three-course tasting for $85, but ups the ante by offering their celebrated Japanese wagyu beef carpaccio as an appetizer. Pair that with Chilean sea bass or filet mignon and the warm Valrhona chocolate cake and you’ll leave satisfied.

If you’re looking for more simplicity, Old Homestead Steakhouse (702.731.7560) at The Forum Shops at Caesars is about as straightforward as it gets. The $70 prix fixe menu (served daily from 4-6 p.m.) gives you a Caesar salad, 10-ounce Black Angus filet with colossal shrimp on the side, and créme brulée. Top of the World Restaurant (702.380.7711) at The STRAT has more variety in their four-course tasting for $106 (or one dollar per floor), but is just as simple, serving up roasted corn soup, then ahi tuna or cavatelli pasta, filet mignon and shrimp or salmon and scallops, and créme brulée or spumoni. Add the wine pairing for an additional $50 and you’ll enjoy one of the best deals in Vegas.
