As much as Las Vegas is evolving, there are plenty of visitors to our town that really miss the old days of Sin City. Heck, we’ve even got a Mob Museum downtown that details the city’s crime-ridden (but much glorified) past. And for a taste of what it must have felt like to be a bigwig back in the day, you really can’t do better than Andiamo Steakhouse at downtown’s The D casino, a true throwback in practically every way.

The restaurant itself is relatively new to Las Vegas; D casino owner Derek Stevens loved the original in his hometown of Detroit and wanted a true Italian steakhouse as part of the property’s rebranding back in 2012. And as Stevens’ empire continues to grow (including the opening of his Circa Resort & Casino in 2020), Andiamo remains a core part of his philosophy—that everyone who visits his properties should feel like the most important person on the planet.

Even the entrance to the property feels like you’re traveling through a time machine, with a brick-lined tunnel just off the escalator leading you into an immaculately appointed room full of comfortable booths, soft lighting and dark hues. Your servers attend to your every need, including preparing the restaurant’s classic Caesar salad at your table while you enjoy classic cocktails like Manhattans, Old-Fashioneds and cosmopolitans.

There are so many wonderful, shareable starters here that you may never want to shift to a main course. The Andiamo grande meatball is an absolute must, large enough for the whole table and smothered in tomato sauce and ricotta. The marinated portobello mushrooms and beef tenderloin tips come served in one of the best condiments you’ll taste in town—zip sauce, an Andiamo special recipe that’s practically its own food group. The calamari fritti, flash-fried and served with banana peppers and ammoglio sauce, is a house specialty. One bite and you’ll want the whole thing for yourself.

The steak program here is world-class all the way—the top 8 percent of beef in the U.S. aged at a minimum of 30 days. No matter your choice—filet mignon, bone-in rib-eye, porterhouse or tomahawk—you’ll be guaranteed one of the tenderest, most flavorful cuts in all of Las Vegas.

Accompaniments are equally delightful, from Tuscan roasted potatoes and cauliflower au gratin to lobster and black truffle baked ziti and Parmesan-topped risotto with asparagus and basil.

Not in the mood for red meat? Andiamo has plenty of other options guaranteed to satisfy, including a seafood section with an impeccable Chilean sea bass, served on a pea risotto cake and topped with a beurre blanc, garlic and roasted tomatoes. Another house specialty here, the pan-roasted sea scallops are a revelation for fans of the mollusk, served with ricotta gnudi, asparagus, sweet corn, roasted tomatoes and white truffle essence. Pasta fans will love both lobster ravioli and shrimp scampi, while vegetarians will want to check out the cauliflower steak, prepared with Italian grains and seasonal vegetables.
