When it comes to some dining experiences, simplicity really is the recipe for success. Peter Luger Steak House, which opened its first beer-hall-style restaurant in 1887 in Brooklyn, has proven that for nearly a century and a half, deciding early on that it would not deviate from its format: Great steaks surrounded by classic sides and appetizers, all accompanied by Luger’s Own Sauce. And if you haven’t yet had the pleasure of the Peter Luger experience, now’s your chance; there’s now one at Caesars Palace, the company’s first domestic expansion in more than 60 years.

The German beer hall feel is alive and well at this location, complete with servers who are ready to make you feel right at home with old-world attitude. As you enjoy a classic cocktail—Manhattans, Old-Fashioneds, martinis, you name it, they’ll make it—you’ll want to order one of the franchise’s most famous creations—sliced tomatoes. Yes, that’s exactly what it sounds like. Or you can order it with accompaniments like onions, jumbo shrimp and chopped bacon. Whatever you order, smother it with that Luger’s Own Sauce and you will be in heaven. It’s hard to put into words how something so simple can be so delicious—so I’m not going to try. Just order it!

The simplicity doesn’t get much better than the red meat portion of the menu. The lunchtime burger is a half-pound of prime chuck, served on a bun with a slice of onion—and that’s it, unless you want cheese! From the steak section, your choices are a porterhouse steak for two, three or four, rib steak or ribeye for two. And lest you’re wondering, they’re all served medium rare. We wouldn’t suggest ordering a steak well-done here, as you might get a bit of side-eye.

There are plenty of steak alternatives should you so choose, from two double-thick lamb loin chops and a broiled chicken half to grilled Atlantic salmon and a Dover sole, deboned at your table. Sides are what you would expect at such an establishment, from Luger’s Special German-Fried Potatoes, creamed spinach and sauteed broccoli. All are solid accompaniments to one of the best new meals you’re likely to have on the Las Vegas Strip.
