It opened five years ago on the Las Vegas Strip (and celebrated that anniversary a few months ago), but Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen is still one of the top culinary tickets in town. If you don’t make reservations, it can indeed be difficult to get a seat here. But oh, is it worth it!
For starters, upon entering, you’ll immediately feel like you’re on an episode of the celebrity chef’s long-running reality series for which the restaurant is named—a large dining room sits opposite both red and blue kitchens, and there’s plenty of activity to enjoy, from the servers and the chefs to the diners themselves. To get the maximum enjoyment from this environment, you’re going to want a signature cocktail like Notes From Gordon, a gin-based drink that blends green tea, lemongrass, peach and lemon, all topped off with a small scroll that has a Ramsay bon mot from the show (“My grandmother can cook better than that, and she’s dead!”)
If you are indeed a fan of the show, you’ve probably been wondering over the years, “What does Ramsay’s lobster risotto taste like?” Now’s your chance to find out, as that show staple is prominently featured, as are pan-seared scallops and crispy skin salmon. Whatever your expectations are, no doubt these versions will more than live up to them.
Perhaps most coveted by Ramsay’s fans is the beef Wellington, a succulent slice of filet surrounded by puff pastry and served with potato purée, glazed root vegetables and a red wine demi-glace. It pairs wonderfully with either Brussels sprouts, wild mushrooms or baked macaroni and cheese.
Do not overdo it during your
main course! You are definitely going to want dessert here, as Hell’s Kitchen features arguably the best finisher on the Strip—sticky toffee pudding, served with speculoos ice cream and the most decadent drizzle you could imagine. If you’ve had it before and want to go a different direction, not a problem. Death by Chocolate does not disappoint with its combo of fondant cake, crispy mousse pearls (both chocolate, natch), a brownie, and cookies and cream ice cream.
