If you want views, there might be no better place in Las Vegas than Top of the World at The STRAT. Not only does the 106th-floor restaurant boast soaring windows from floor to ceiling, it also revolves 360 degrees, which means diners get to see the entire Las Vegas Valley in the span of 80 minutes. It’s impressive during the early evening hours but breathtaking after dark, with the twinkling lights stretching to the mountains on all sides.

The room itself is lovely, with a gray-and-blue palette, table and booth seating, and walls of wine and the kitchen on the interior wall. Once you’re seated (and I do recommend the window seating, although someone with a fear of heights may want something a bit farther away), choose from Top of the World’s stellar cocktail list. The Creamsicle features Ketel One vodka, Caravella Orangecello, Licor 43 Original along with lemon, kumquat, aquafaba and candied orange. Doesn’t that sound delightful? Living up to its name, the Elevated Margarita combines Casamigos blanco tequila, Cointreau and lime juice, accented by salted sea foam.

Top of the World has classic starters like seafood, including a shrimp cocktail, oysters on the half shell, and the Shellfish Display for Two, featuring Maine lobster, poached shrimp, citrus-infused crab and oysters. Wild mushroom ravioli is accented with toasted hazelnuts, guanciale, pickled beech mushrooms and Calabrian chili, while the Billionaire’s Eggs star crème fraîche, whipped yolks, Iberico ham and Osetra caviar.

A chopped salad with pancetta, avocado, soft boiled egg and asparagus is elevated with the addition of lobster, while spinach and watercress salad juxtaposes the flavors of those two greens.

The restaurant has a strong beef program, sourcing meat from such purveyors as Creekstone Farms, Snake River Farms and Harris Ranch, with prime ribeye, New York strip and filets in a variety of sizes and styles. Even for a beef fan, the choices are dizzying.

But that’s just part of what’s here. Find everything from a smoked half chicken to a Kurobuta pork chop with whole lobster mac and cheese, Parmesan-crusted salmon, and braised bison short ribs available. And the vegan stuffed squash is plumped full of miso-roasted sweet potato, smoked oyster mushrooms, avocado and forbidden rice. You’ll notice many familiar sides, such as potato purée with sweet cream butter, mac and cheese, grilled asparagus and French fries. But roasted artichokes, as well as peas and grits (with pimento cheese polenta, crispy ham and braised spring peas) beg for attention.

An excellent way to enjoy Top of the World is to book the dinner and a show package, where guests can enjoy preferred seating at one of The STRAT’s fun shows. The menu for Top of the World includes a glass of champagne; Caesar salad; entrée and side; plus warm butter cake. (Some restrictions apply). And if you are looking for a special way to propose, The STRAT has several really cool packages to choose from, with roses, chocolates, champagne, photos and dinner options.

The menu will changing soon, so be sure to book reservations to experience these dishes this week.
