Flanker Kitchen + Sports Bar

With the Fourth of July holiday this week, it’s the perfect time to grab an American classic—the burger. And in Vegas you might not be manning the grill, but you still have a multitude of choices in plenty of styles.

For one of the best burgers in Las Vegas, you have to head to Flanker Kitchen + Sports Bar for the bacon wagyu smash burger. One of the Mandalay Bay restaurant’s top sellers features two patties on a brioche bun with American cheese and garlic aioli, plus bacon-onion jam. It is accompanied by delicious fries, something I could make a meal of alone. You can also get a wagyu smash patty melt on sourdough, if that’s your thing.

For a classic that you’d find hard to beat, the Luger Burger at Peter Luger Steak House at Caesars Palace earns rave reviews for a lunchtime splurge. The quality of the prime aged beef shines through, and the simple toppings only enhance the flavors of the half-pound burger. You can get it with cheese or bacon, though.

Another high-end burger available at lunch is at Wally’s Wine & Spirits in Resorts World Las Vegas, where Wally’s Burger serves up a satisfying half-pound of Blackhawk American wagyu. It’s topped with heirloom tomatoes, caramelized onions and butter lettuce. Those fries are pretty darned good, according to me.

Bobby’s Burgers by Bobby Flay at Paris Las Vegas offers plenty of options for a reasonable price in a casual walk-up setting. The Crunchburger features certified Angus beef, with American cheese, Bobby’s secret sauce and chips. The BBQ Smokehouse burger layers on bacon, crispy onions, American cheese and a spicy chipotle barbecue sauce. For vegetarians, Bobby’s veggie burger has everything from chickpeas and quinoa to barbecue mushrooms. It also comes with American cheese, lettuce and tomato. Add some sweet potato fries onto that one.

At The Venetian, Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer has some of the most inventive burgers around. The Texan burger features crispy onion rings, bacon, aged cheddar and Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce with the prime patty, while the black truffle burger gets a little more fancy with toppings and condiments including truffle-yuzu vinaigrette, black garlic peppercorn aioli, shaved Parmesan, truffle oil and havarti cheese accompanying a half-pound wagyu patty. For the vegan, the falafel burger layers a falafel burger, vegan feta, lemon hummus and tahini on a Dave’s vegan bun.

Head to Proper Eats Food Hall at Aria for another low-key experience. Lola’s Burgers dishes out sandwiches like the Impossible burger, made with Impossible meat, which is striking in its resemblance to beef. That comes with a vegan burger sauce and avocado spread. But you can get other burgers, like the smash burger, which piles up two patties, American cheese, pickles, grilled onions and Russian dressing on fresh-baked buns.

Downtown, Victory Burgers & Wings at Circa Resort & Casino has plenty of goodies for you. The patties on the signature burgers are a blend of brisket, short rib and Angus beef. The Hangover burger is a protein-heavy sandwich with thick-cut bacon, a half-pound patty, blanco cheese sauce and an egg, plus onion straws, caramelized onions and delicious “boom boom sauce.”
