Gordon Ramsay is truly the total package when it comes to celebrity chefs. His empire is based as much on the signature items he’s famous for as it is on his attitude, determination and, at times, devastating sense of humor. His brand is one of the most respected in the culinary world, and the proof of that is the number of restaurants he’s opened in Las Vegas—five and counting. (His sixth outpost is soon to open at Flamingo.) But the true centerpiece of the Ramsay universe on the Las Vegas Strip is undeniably Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen at Caesars Palace, a re-creation of the famous Red and Blue Kitchens from his long-running reality cooking competition show, where you’ll get to enjoy all the wonderful dishes you see prepared on TV.
Appetizers include those now-famous pan-seared scallops (how many times have we seen Hell’s Kitchen contestants unsuccessfully cook them to Ramsay’s specifications?), served in cauliflower purée with golden raisins, crispy prosciutto and vadouvan, as well as a butter-poached lobster tail served with truffle risotto and crispy onions. This would be a good time to order a cocktail, and we can’t recommend highly enough the Notes From Gordon, a refreshing blend of Plymouth dry gin, green tea, lemongrass, peach and lemon. Each individual cocktail contains an attached note with a famous Ramsay saying. Think of it as a hilarious, alcoholic take on the fortune cookie. (My most recent one read, “This lamb is so undercooked, it’s following Mary to school!”)
Meat lovers will all find something to love here, from braised short rib and a 14-ounce dry-aged New York strip to Jidori chicken scallopini (all can be enhanced with foie gras, bone marrow or seasonal truffles).
If you want the classic Ramsay experience, the Signature Prix Fixe is for you—you get pan-seared scallops, heirloom tomato salad with cucumbers, feta, garlic croutons and pickled red onions, all in a basil vinaigrette, beef Wellington, served with potato puree, glazed root vegetables and a red wine demi-glace, and the most irresistible dessert on the entire Strip: Sticky toffee pudding, served with speculoos ice cream.
