If you are looking for an elegant evening, heading to Crossroads Kitchen is an excellent idea. The beautifully appointed dining room is accented by a lovely bar and a soaring column housing wine in the curving dining area. At the rear is a lovely private dining area with multiple double doors beckoning you inside.

Grab a seat at the bar to wait for your table, if you can snag a chair; it’s a bustling scene in the evenings as delicious cocktails and wine issue from the mixologists here. The happy hour libations at this vegan restaurant are particularly delectable, and at an excellent price—try the Sweet Leaf, made with your choice of gin or vodka, Chareau (a plant-based spirit made of aloe vera) and cucumber syrup, which plays off the Chareau, which has a cucumber vibe.
At the table, start with a signature appetizer such as the calamari fritti, a vegan version of calamari that appears like traditional calamari (it’s actually mushroom, served with lemon and a spicy diablo sauce). Stuffed zucchini blossoms are filled with a cheese that you wouldn’t suspect wasn’t dairy, while Impossible meatballs come with a rich marinara and nondairy ricotta. The roasted mushroom tart will really sharpen your appetite for the next course—shimeji mushrooms and caramelized onions are popped onto a crispy phyllo base with Boursin cheese and a bordelaise sauce—doesn’t that sound incredible?

There are a number of salads to choose from as well. Carrie Underwood Reflection summer salad is a favorite of the resident star, with heirloom tomatoes and peaches accented by red onion, mint and a sherry vinaigrette. If you are partial to a wedge salad, the vegan version here is delicious, with Umaro bacon and a house-made bleu cheese dressing.
Entrées include options like eggplant filet with mashed potatoes and a mushroom bordelaise, a meaty-looking version with a huge punch of flavor. Similarly, the grilled lion’s mane steak has a very wild look and texture, also with mushroom bordelaise. It’s served with signature truffle potatoes, slices with fresh shaved Parmesan and thyme—so fragrant. Another side dish that is worth every penny is the roasted Japanese eggplant. Those slender boats are accented with lemon yogurt, cherry-harissa chutney and mint.
And what is a visit to a fancy restaurant without an equally fancy dessert? The coconut-apricot petit gateau is quite lovely. Dig through this sweet treat with care, as it seems a bit sad to destroy such beauty willy-nilly.

If you are thinking about a brunch visit, Crossroads Kitchen’s Sunday brunch buffet may seem made to order. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., enjoy overnight oats, parfaits, cheeses and breads, salads and fruit. But that’s just your first plate—sausage, bacon, scrambled egg, French toast and pancakes plus a live pasta station. And yes, there’s a dessert station, too.
