Japanese restaurants really shine in Las Vegas, both on the Strip and throughout the valley. And if you’re looking for one of the best, head to Kusa Nori, where you’ll find everything from specialty rolls, sashimi and nigiri, robata meats and seafood—plus a few added surprises.

Start your night off with wagyu beef crispy potato, Jidori chicken karaage or vegetable tempura, all ideal for sharing. Then work your way to a delicious cucumber salad, packed with hearts of palm, heirloom tomatoes, charred avocado, avocado oil, amazu dressing and sesame seeds. This might also be a good time to add on some scallop crudo or shigoku oysters (and these are just for you this time!).

Now onto the sashimi and nigiri! You have your choice of all the classics, from tuna and sweet shrimp to sea urchin and freshwater eel, but if you’re looking for something next-level, put your fate in the hands of the chef with the Kusa sushi or sashimi moriawase; for both, you’ll get 10 selections depending on the chef’s inspiration.

There are standard rolls like shrimp tempura, spicy tuna and eel cucumber, but definitely consider trying the signature rolls here, especially the Umi Riku roll (made with Black Hawk wagyu tataki, lobster tempura, asparagus, kaiware, cucumber, umami oroshi and hana wasabi) and the 3000 LVBLVD roll (made with yuzu Kewpie snow crab, togarashi tataki salmon, asparagus, yuzu tobiko, micro wasabi and kizami yuzu).

For a real treat, select three, five or seven selections from the robata platter menu, from kurobuta pork belly and Jidori chicken to eggplant and asparagus. The smoky flavors imparted by grilling over hot charcoal will have your eyes rolling up with delight.

For a real treat, try Kusa Nori’s happy hour, available in the bar and lounge from 4-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 4-5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Enjoy cocktails like the Honeydew List, made with Tito’s vodka, Khee soju 38, cantaloupe syrup, honeydew and lemon, or the Jack & Stone Collins, made with Jack Daniel’s rye, apricot liqueur, orange, lemon and soda water, while noshing on bites like blue fin tuna tartare or ikari salmon handrolls.
