Any hard rock or metal band that made it through the ’90s at least semi-intact with a fan base can be considered canonic. Such is the case with Hed P.E. (“Planet Earth”), the rapcore quartet originating from Huntington Beach that’s getting ready to follow up its 2014 album Revolution with its 10th full-length recording, Forever!, on July 22. Frontman Jared Gomes describes the new record as a blend of “Godzilla heavy guitar riffs with beats that will hypnotize. The vocals strike the proper balance between rock, punk, hip hop and reggae.”

Striking that balance has been Hed P.E.’s preoccupation since they made their presence known in 1997. Hed P.E. continues to rage against the machine as Gomes screams and shouts his world views via a torrent of “G-punk” rhymes and raps. The band is barnstorming the country on its summer tour, culminating in an appearance at the 17th annual Gathering of the Juggalos near the end of July.
