“I dated a teacher in high school. Yeah. It didn’t make me cooler. And a lot of you are like, ‘That’s ’cause you were home schooled.’”

That quick hitter is from Daniel Tosh’s breakthrough special Completely Serious, which debuted 10 years ago in 2007. The strange thing about it is, as recently as 2016 famous comedians were still doing some version of this joke on their specials! Whether it was a steal from Tosh or not, it shows just what a good joke writer he is and, in fact, that he might have been just a bit ahead of his time.

Now, 42, the acid-tongued star seems to have one of the best schedules in comedy. His Comedy Central television show, Tosh.0, has aired well over 200 episodes with no signs of slowing down. The format—Tosh watches clips of all manner of crazy material from the Internet, and then proceeds to make fun of it—has been copied more times than the above-mentioned joke.

The comic, with his take-no-prisoners style, can call his shots as a touring act nowadays. In years past, he’s been one of the top live comedy acts in the world. This year, he has only four dates left, according to his calendar. And they are all in Las Vegas. The anything-goes comedian has found the perfect home—the city where anything goes.
