So Much to Give

It wouldn’t just be unfair to tag Taylor Dayne with the dreaded one-hit-wonder label—it would be downright wrong. This is an artist, after all, with seven Top 10 hits to her credit (among them, “Prove Your Love,” “I’ll Always Love You” and “Love Will Lead You Back”). An artist who has made her mark in multiple music genres, cracking the pop, dance, R&B, adult contemporary and rock charts. An artist who—unlike a good many of her contemporaries—wrote many of her own hit songs (not to mention penned a tune for none other than Tina Turner). Further, Dayne long ago proved she’s more than just a gifted singer/songwriter, having crossed over into acting with roles on TV and onstage, even performing in Elton John’s Broadway musical Aida in 2001.

So, one-hit wonder? Not even close. But even if Dayne were just a one-hit wonder, what a hit! It introduced Dayne to the masses, got them on their feet and lip-syncing in front of mirrors all over the world: Of course, we refer to “Tell It to My Heart,” which was released in late 1987 and remains as catchy a dance song today as it was 30 years ago. See for yourself this week when Dayne lands in Las Vegas and performs her signature song—among many other hits! –Matt Jacob

Rock Steady

Las Vegas is a mostly a city of nonstop change, but it’s comforting to know that certain things remain steadfast in their commitment to what Las Vegas used to be. Established in 1966, Hugo’s Cellar at the Four Queens has kept to simple traditions that help create the perfect romantic dining experience—every woman who passes through the door gets a red rose, and complimentary fruit is served for dipping in chocolate (along with whipped cream, of course). Hugo’s Hot Rock Specialty for Two, featuring medallions of filet, ahi tuna, chicken breast and shrimp served on a hot granite slab, is just one of the many mainstays that keeps customer coming back for more. –Ken Miller
