Just one phase of Rob Lowe’s lengthy Hollywood career would be enough for any other actor, and now Lowe has synthesized his decades of success in film and TV into a one-man stage show, Stories I Only Tell My Friends: Live! The title comes from his best-selling 2011 memoir, and the live show features Lowe giving the audience a glimpse behind the scenes of his life and career. That career spans nearly four decades, from his time as a teen heartthrob in movies like The Outsiders and St. Elmo’s Fire, to his stints on acclaimed TV dramas The West Wing and Brothers & Sisters, his sitcom roles on Parks and Recreation and The Grinder, and his recent myth-hunting reality show alongside his two sons, The Lowe Files.
Lowe’s live show features clips and photos from throughout his career, as well as a Q&A session with the audience. “Frankly, I love meeting people, being out in front of them, hearing their comments,” Lowe said in the tour announcement. Broadway World called the show “a love letter to his fans,” and Lowe has been steadily adding tour dates since the show debuted in 2017. Wherever he performs, he turns those fans into friends.
