The expeditious evolution of HyperX Esports Arena Las Vegas at The Luxor continues with the introduction of PlayTime with KittyPlays. The monthly esports entertainment and variety show hosted by superstar Twitch-caster Kristen “KittyPlays” Michaela had a successful March 24 debut before a live audience gathered at Esports Arena, with Ali “Myth” Kabbani appearing as Michaela’s special guest. Attendees were able to join the celebrity gamers onstage and square off against KittyPlays and Myth for the ultimate competitive experience.

It’s one of the most momentous occasions for the Arena since Tyler “Ninja” Blevins took on all comers at Fortnite during Ninja Vegas ’18 last April. In order for esports to grow, its stars need constellations to shine in. Esports Arena provides that place where top gamers can rise higher than streaming allows. It allows fans to reach out and fist-bump with living legends and emulate their victory dances in real life. It’s also a proving ground for future supergamers, where their tribes can see them on giant screens above the stage.

Action doesn’t wait for celebrity gamers, though, with tournaments—streamed live at twitch.tv/esportsarena for the laptop set—happening day and night. Whether a gamer’s forte is Fortnite, League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege or Saturday Night Speedway, there is something to engage everyone’s hyper-attention. Current weekly tournaments include Wednesday Whiffs, featuring Super Smash Bros., and highly attended Friday Night Frags, which offers a prize of $2,000 to the winner.

Michaela, a talented Fortnite player, had a million followers on Twitch going into the debut of PlayTime with KittyPlays. The first 50 ticket-holding attendees got to stick around after the show for a meet-and-greet, while her online followers were ecstatic in their support. To them, the broadcast was a great leap forward for Michaela’s career, as well as for gaming itself. It was also the first time many viewers had a glimpse of this Taj Mahal of esports venues, with a recommended dress code of a hoodie in case the air conditioning is too cool of a contrast with the desert heat outside of Luxor.

It’s not necessary to be a nerd or be particularly dexterous with a controller to enjoy Fortnite-inspired cocktails. Drinking-age gamers can indulge in an Overkill made with passion fruit liqueur, Bacardi Pineapple and Red Bull Yellow Edition; a blue-and-green Chug Jug with Svedka Raspberry vodka, Red Bull Blue Edition, Bols blue curacao, and raspberries; or the Final Boss with Ketel One Botanical Cucumber Mint vodka, Red Bull and fresh kiwi.

Gamer-inspired cuisine is available on a menu designed for comfort-foodies and calorie cravers, with lounging areas and optimal sightlines on the stage on the second level. Stop by on the last Sunday of the month between 2 and 6 p.m. and it’s likely Michaela will be taking on the esports superstars of tomorrow between interviews with the most popular gaming influencers of today. Whether on the rise or at the top, gaming’s greatest have made HyperX Esports Arena their Las Vegas headquarters.
