For various reasons, the current tour from Beach Boys cofounder and singer-songwriter Brian Wilson isn’t labeled a Beach Boys tour. Wilson has been involved to varying degrees with the group since the early 1960s, and at the moment the official Beach Boys are continuing without him. But Wilson will be joined onstage by fellow cofounding Beach Boy Al Jardine and longtime Beach Boys collaborator Blondie Chaplin, and the trio will be performing material from classic Beach Boys albums Friends (1968) and Surf’s Up (1971), which include Beach Boys favorites like the title tracks, “Long Promised Road” and “Little Bird.” Both albums represent the more experimental side of the Beach Boys, which Wilson has embraced and expanded on in his solo career.

Wilson won’t be neglecting better-known upbeat Beach Boys hits, though, and he’ll also be joined by fellow harmony-driven ’60s rock icons The Zombies, whose classic singles include “Time of the Season” and "She's Not There." “It’s been quite a year and I’m ready to go out and tour some music that makes everyone have a feel-good vibe,” Wilson said in the tour announcement, and he’s spent his entire career creating exactly that kind of music.
