When you picture your Las Vegas vacation, you probably don’t imagine singing along to “If You’re Happy and You Know It” on the Strip. Think about it, though; you know you’re happy when you’re in Las Vegas, and there’s no better place to proclaim that than at the Mac King Comedy Magic Show at Harrah’s. You’ll be singing along with the crowd before you even realize it.

This show may be geared toward families, but it’s peppered with adult jokes that may sail right over your kids’ heads (but are guaranteed to make you chuckle). Couple that with King’s impressive sleight-of-hand and you’ve got all of the ingredients for the perfect afternoon show.

Mac King has made a career out of being a big kid, and his show takes you back to that childhood wonderment surrounding magic tricks. From his opening “Howdy!” to the curtain’s close, you’ll be cracking up while wondering how exactly he pulls off his illusions.

He takes the standard “Is this your card?”-type of trick to the next level with a mind-blowing twist that will leave you baffled. The same goes for his disappearance and reappearance tricks; bewilderment doesn’t begin to explain what you’ll feel after seeing some of those.

Guests can get in on the action with his crowd-participation bits. He’ll show you there’s clearly nothing up his sleeve, then blow your mind with a rope trick that just doesn’t add up. The looks of shock and awe on crowd members’ faces show they’re just as baffled with an up-close view. He’s not afraid to tease his guests, either. After all, this is called comedy magic.

King’s signature plaid suits might make you chuckle, but not as much as his choice of outerwear. Some say it’s unlucky to open an umbrella indoors, but nobody said anything about wearing a raincoat. After seeing Mac King’s “cloak of invisibility,” a yellow raincoat that allows him to hilariously move items from person to person, you’ll never look at a yellow “mac” (its name in the United Kingdom) the same.

Guinea pigs, goldfish and bears, oh my! These are just some of the interesting co-stars you’ll meet on King’s stage. It may sound like you visited the zoo, but King is just keeping it lively with some unexpected animal guests. You’ll never know what—or who—he has up his plaid sleeves.

After decades in the biz, King has honed his skills, and his well-timed zingers are tailored for each audience. He plays off of each unique crowd so every show is different. His facial expressions and deadpan delivery almost steal the show, but that title might be reserved for his animal co-stars.

And in case you’re wondering how uniquely Vegas this show is, let’s just say both Elvis and Liberace make an appearance. If you’re looking to laugh and be wowed, this show is a must, with or without the kids.
