Although it may sound like it belongs in a weather forecast, Storm Large is actually the perfect name for the performer who first made a pop-culture impact on the singing competition show Rock Star: Supernova. Large lost to singer Lukas Rossi in the battle to become the singer for a hard rock super group, but the show gave her a platform for a career that has spanned rock, jazz and pop.

Since her Rock Star appearances, Large has released several solo albums and has performed a one-woman show, Crazy Enough, inspired by her life and her struggles with addiction and poverty. Whatever genre she performs in, Large has a vocal presence that is big and powerful, putting a distinctive touch on cover songs or her own original material.

She’s also toured the world with the cabaret-style band Pink Martini, which is known for performing international pop standards in various languages , with classy, sophisticated arrangements. Large has performed with artists ranging from George Clinton to k.d. lang and Dave Navarro, and in her solo shows she brings all of those influences together with her soaring vocals and brassy personality. You could say that her combination of talents forms the perfect storm.
