Undeniable talent, iconic music and all-around showmanship. To be a successful headliner in the highly competitive entertainment landscape of the Las Vegas Strip, you must have at least one of these weapons in your arsenal. Or you could be like Boyz II Men, which has all three.

Now in their sixth year of performing one of the Strip’s most entertaining musical residencies at the Terry Fator Theatre at The Mirage, Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman have honed their show into a well-balanced, finely tuned example of what this style of Vegas production should be. They honor their longtime fans with pristine performances of their biggest hits, from “End of the Road” to “I’ll Make Love to You,” but never fail to impress with extra energy and a few surprises along the way. No matter what you expect from one of the most talented and successful soul and R&B singing groups of all time, you’ll leave with a fresh impression and the same thoughts everyone has: “I didn’t know they could do that!”

The individually and collectively gifted vocalists cruise through Motown classics including “Just My Imagination” and “The Tracks of My Tears”—complete with Temptations-style choreography—and a few rock and roll favorites like “Are You Gonna Go My Way” and “Come Together.” There are the classic Boyz II Men cover songs, including The Beatles’ “Yesterday” and the song they originally passed on that went on to become one of the biggest pop crossover hits of its era, Lonestar’s “Amazed.”

Of course, the crowd in the comfortable Mirage venue is never happier than when those mega-hits come out, from the romantic harmonies and soaring vocal runs of “On Bended Knee” to the singalong-inducing “End of the Road” and high-energy “Motownphilly.” These are singers who have kept their unequaled instruments in peak condition and they are just doing what they do, which is simply being great entertainers in Las Vegas. –Brock Radke

Islands Are Calling

You can get all sorts of drinks at Margaritaville, like the Perfect margarita and the 5 O’ Clock Somewhere, but that’s just a start. The Volcano Nachos are considered a masterpiece by some, with the cheese and toppings evenly distributed. For a twist, try the asiago crab and artichoke dip. You might not think dessert could be in the plan, but think again! Three words: Key lime pie. –Nina King
