A few years ago, John Kahle was inspired by the garage and rooftop parties happening all around Paris. “I thought it would be so cool to have parties in Vegas parking garages,” says Kahle, partner of Paris- and Las Vegas-based Hunt 5 Group. “There’s these massive top floors that are hardly ever parked on, so I’ll start talking to casino contacts about parties in parking garages.”

Although the idea sparked interest, it turned out to be too hard to execute. But Hunt 5 Group recently partnered with Westgate Las Vegas, and together they’ve created a Vegas version of the Paris rooftop parties—The Sunset Club.

The winter party kicks off at 1 p.m. Thursday through Saturday outdoors on Westgate’s pool deck. While there’s no swimming allowed because of the cold temps—several heaters are placed strategically throughout—guests are welcome to take a dip in the Jacuzzi.

“It’s the only outdoor winter dayclub in Las Vegas,” Kahle says. “There’s that long stretch of time before dinner, so this is something that people can go to and have some fun.”

Guests are treated to a live set by resident DJ Guinness, who spin popular ’80s and ’90s music. “It’s the music where when you walk in, you’ll be singing along to Janet Jackson or bopping around to Wham!” Kahle says. “There might be special appearances by the Westgate performers, and maybe some karaoke, too.”

Inside the Jack Daniel’s Cabana, the menu includes classic cocktails from Paris and cocktails made using French brands. Some of the options include Carte Noire coffee, Crémant sparkling wine, Kronenbourg beer paired with Jack Daniels and the Chocolat Poulain. “Poulain is like a French Nestle’s Quik,” Kahle says. “I think we’re the only resort that serves it. We make like a hot chocolate out of it, throw in some schnapps or Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream or heavy whipped cream on top—it is so delicious.”

The Sunset Club also has multiple bars and conversation pits, but Kahle is pretty certain most crowds just feel like dancing and letting loose. “It’s a party that’s inclusive,” he says. “Everyone feels like a VIP, everyone is a VIP. … Have a drink, have fun, dance, sing—all during the day.”
