Return to Form

You may know singer Matt Goss from the sexy, swinging sounds of his cabaret-style show at The Mirage’s 1 OAK Nightclub, but as the former frontman of UK pop group Bros, Goss has a lot more music in his bag of tricks. His latest single, “Red Flares,” demonstrates his versatility and it’s just the beginning of a wave of new music from the international entertainer.

“This track has that really contemporary beat and melody and I just wanted to dig into that world again,” Goss recently said.

“I’m definitely not done creating music for radio as well as for myself, and it’s an interesting challenge to write something and put my name behind it while keeping it contemporary,” he said. It’s tougher than it seems.”

All The Vegas: Michael Morton

“The amazing thing about Las Vegas is when we do it, we do it better than anyone else anywhere. I’m just thrilled to be a part of that. Growing up, we liked rock ’n’ roll stars, but today, kids like my kids like to follow DJs. And I loved those days with Paul Oakenfold like we had at Rain at the Palms. But the game has changed. That’s the thing about Vegas, it keeps evolving and keeps changing and it’s powerful, what takes place here. It’s only made this a much more diverse and interesting town from a nightlife and hospitality perspective.”

Around the Strip

Criss Angel’s celeb buddies continue to pile into the new Criss Angel Theater at Planet Hollywood to check out the explosive new version of the illusionist’s MINDFREAK show. Kiss singer Paul Stanley recently joined the rest of the packed house for a standing ovation before hanging with Angel and signing the Mindfreak train at the theater’s entrance. Stanley previously contributed a giant painting for Angel’s interactive lobby.

During the bustling CES week on the Strip, actor Jamie Foxx stopped in at Tao for a meal of satay sea bass, crispy rice tuna, pepper steak and lots of sashimi shared with his large, gregarious group. NFL legend Emmitt Smith and friends feasted on lobster fettuccini, filet mignon and that irresistible meatball at Lavo at The Palazzo, and Grammy-nominated rapper Tyga caught Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil at Mandalay Bay. And UFC head honcho Dana White did likewise at Absinthe at Caesars Palace, taking a seat in the Gazillionaire’s throne afterwards.

The Strip show shuffle never ends and movement is constant and debuts are on the way. Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream slipped into Windows Showroom at Bally’s from the Sin City Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort. Santiago Michel’s groundbreaking Spanish-language show Ilusión Mental also departed the Sin City room for the Anthony Cools Showroom at Paris Las Vegas. The Bronx Wanderers’ rock and roll extravaganza checked out of Windows and starts up at the Mat Franco Theater at the Linq on Jan. 28.
