Make sure you take a deep breath before Iliza Shlesinger hits the stage, because the second the 36-year-old comedian gets going, there will not be another chance. She is high energy and animated and punctuates her jokes with a distinct physicality.

The Manhattan-born comic rose to fame by winning the sixth season of NBC’s reality comedy competition Last Comic Standing. She was twice sent to the elimination round, where she bested other comics joke-for-joke.

From there, the likeable Shlesinger kicked things into overdrive. A regular talking head on various panel television shows, she also hosted Excused, a modern dating show that aired in syndication. She even had her own talk show, Truth & Iliza, which was influenced by her podcast of the same name.

Of course, the wiry comedian makes her bones on stage. Since 2013, she has put out four different Netflix specials including Elder Millennial, which dropped in 2018 and was recorded on United States Navy aircraft carrier the USS Hornet. And she recently filmed her fifth special for the streaming platform. She shows absolutely no signs of slowing down, much to her audience’s delight.
