Joe Rogan is experiencing a career high, although he’s been high on his career since he first summoned the courage to give stand-up a try at a Boston comedy club. His long-form conversation podcast The Joe Rogan Experience is an ongoing hit, and he’s parlayed that success into performing at arenas and multi-night theater dates while remaining the primary commentator for Ultimate Fighting Championship bouts.

There may be a high level of stress to manage, but Rogan handles it with an unabashed enthusiasm that’s fired his engines from the get-go. Rogan, a lifelong martial arts devotee, channeled his energy into teaching karate by day and honing stand-up skills at night. His talent led him to West Coast comedy clubs and a role on mid-to-late ’90s sit-com NewsRadio, where his role as street-savvy, non-conformist Joe Garrelli introduced him to national audiences.

Hosting Fear Factor came next, while his passion for mixed martial arts led him to become the voice of UFC. Now he primarily attends to the podcast when he’s not sitting ringside, but still finds time to knock-out stand-up gigs—including a homecoming date filmed in Boston for last year’s Netflix special Strange Times.
