Comedy legacy

It’s difficult to determine which screen role is best associated with Tim Allen: Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor from smash success sitcom Home Improvement or space adventurer Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story film series. Most entertainers spend their entire career trying to land one role or performance that will create a legacy; Allen has two.

Considering the Toy Story gig has persevered through four movies, multiple audience generations and almost 25 years, we have to give Buzz the nod in this contest while acknowledging that Allen started his stand-up comedy career in 1975 and continues to perform today. Catch him at The Mirage’s Terry Fator Theatre Nov. 8-9.

Must See: Donny & Marie

It's hard to believe that the curtain is about to close. After more than 10 years and 1,700 performances, Donny and Marie Osmond will wrap up their residency at the Flamingo on Nov. 16, capping one of the most successful shows in Las Vegas history and closing a chapter of their collective and individual life stories in entertainment. The singing siblings were recently honored with the Key to the Las Vegas Strip presented by the Clark County Commission as well as a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars right outside the Flamingo. Their final performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5-9 and 12-16 and, considering how many fans have returned year after year to see their unique, hit-filled set again and again, these will be some of the hottest tickets in town.
