Bad Bunny hops to the top
While Bad Bunny’s early music was gaining popularity online, the Puerto Rican singer was still working as a grocery bagger and taking college classes. But the last few years have seen Bad Bunny on a meteoric rise in Latin music, thanks to hits including his online debut “Diles,” “Soy Peor,” “Tu No Metes Cabra,” “Sensualidad” and “Estamos Bien.” He’s collaborated on singles with superstars including Drake (“Mia”), Jennifer Lopez (“Te Guste”) and Cardi B (“I Like It”), in addition to working with some of the hottest artists in Latin music.
Bad Bunny himself has become one of Latin music’s top artists in a short amount of time, regularly hitting the Billboard Latin, dance club and rhythmic charts, hosting the first-ever Spanish-language show on Apple’s Beats 1 radio, and performing to sold-out crowds in arenas. Last year, after already racking up dozens of hits, he finally released his first full-length album, X 100pre, which finds him covering a wide range of Latin and pop styles. Rolling Stone called it “everything you could possibly want from a debut album” and said that “he cements his place among the elite in Latin pop.” Not bad for a former grocery bagger.
