We could all use a little escape—a chance to wrap ourselves in everything that’s merry and bright. Right? All around the Vegas valley, there are ways to experience the holiday season, so go on and get to celebrating.
The Cosmopolitan welcomes back its popular rooftop ice-skating rink. Guests can enjoy seasonal cocktails and light fare, as well as fire pits for making s’mores. On Mondays and Tuesdays, enjoy free holiday movies like Frozen and The Polar Express on the 65-foot marquee.
Another outdoor destination has decked its halls—The Linq Promenade. Enjoy festive décor and, every half-hour from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. daily, the “Lights at The Linq” show, illuminating the High Roller observation wheel with holiday-colored lights synchronized to holiday music.
For a weird, wonderful holiday experience, Area 15 transforms its outdoor A-Lot into Wanderland. Stroll by a 30-foot intergalactic art-car sleigh and an illuminated tree-lined village inhabited by extraterrestrial visitors and kick back at open fire pits or grab one of the private igloos to enjoy some alfresco dining and drinking.
For something really sweet, head to Aria’s lobby for its Winter Wonderland display (702.590.7111). The frosted forest includes the Sugar Palace, standing 15 feet high and made of 4,000 pounds of sugar, a 17-foot holiday tree with 500 crystals and a retail portion filled with sugary gifts made by the property’s patisserie team.
Over at Fashion Show shopping mall, bring the family and enjoy two self-guided, walk-through experiences: Santa’s Workshop and Winter Wonderland, where you’ll be enveloped in the magic of the holidays. In the Great Hall, catch the free holiday musical spectacular every Thursday through Sunday at 1, 3 and 5 p.m.; and snag a professional family photo with the man himself, Santa Claus!
If you’ve got a car, drive over to the Industrial Event Space for “Journey to the North Pole”, a drive-through experience with a show of lights, lasers, music and projections, and then slowly drive down the Path of Lights, a tunnel filled with glittering lights and snow and scenes like the North Pole and Santa’s workshop.
There’s plenty of adults-only holiday fun, too. For outdoor lounging, head to Red Rock Resort for its pop-up holiday bar, Merry Crimson (702.797.7877). Enjoy fire pits, live DJs, live entertainment, desserts, handcrafted cocktails and plenty of Instagrammable moments throughout the over-the-top holiday-decorated space. Over at Sahara Las Vegas, settle into Casbar Lounge (702.761.7000), open 24 hours, for festive cocktails like the Merry Time Mule, Gin-gle All The Way and Saint Nick’s Nightcap. For another opportunity to be completely surrounded in holiday-decorated fun, head to downtown Las Vegas for the “Holly Jolly on Fremont” experience at Park on Fremont (702.834.3160) and Commonwealth (702.445.6400). Both hot spots transform their spaces into holiday wonderlands, with open fire pits, a DJ on Commonwealth’s rooftop, and a Santa’s workshop theme inside Park on Fremont. Enjoy an impressive menu of specially handcrafted holiday cocktails at each bar, too.
