Looking for something different? R.U.N by Cirque du Soleil is a dramatic change of pace for the Montreal-based production company. It’s a celebration of the action thriller genre depicted in movies, graphic novels and video games. It’s darker and grittier than the typical Cirque show and, fair warning, it can be a little violent and intense for some audiences. Set in a crime-filled vision of Las Vegas, R.U.N discards the acrobatics and whimsical settings typically associated with Cirque in favor of stunts, motorbikes, simulated car chases, fight scenes, high falls and even fire.

The story unfolds with the help of recorded voice-overs and video projections that mimic panels from a comic book. Film director Robert Rodriguez helped write the script and the music was composed by former Marilyn Manson guitarist Tyler Bates, mixing elements of EDM, pop and dirty rock. R.U.N isn’t just a show. It’s an immersive experience from the moment ticket holders walk through the door. The lobby itself is decorated in graffiti to represent a seedy back alley with a simulated car crash as the perfect selfie station. R.U.N isn’t for everyone, but it’s definitely an intriguing experience.
