Are you ready for the Oscars of adult entertainment? The 37th annual AVN Awards return to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino with a gala celebration inside The Joint on Jan. 25. The event, presented by the company behind Adult Video News, will hand out trophies to recognize the best performers, films and industry professionals. Categories range from “Best Actress” and “Best Director” to “Most Outrageous Sex Scene” and everything else you can imagine in between, with nearly 100 awards to hand out. The show often enlists a comedian to host, but is welcoming adult stars Nikki Benz and Emily Bloom to lead the ceremony this year with Diplo and Doja Cat as musical guests. The awards run 8-11 p.m. and the public is invited to attend. Tickets begin at $175.

Equally as fun is the week leading up to the ceremony. It all begins with the GayVN Awards on Jan. 20 to honor adult entertainment in the gay community. For the first time, fans are able to participate by voting online. The event, also at The Joint, is hosted by comedic actors Nicole Beyer and Alec Mapa, guaranteeing a loose, fun atmosphere, with fewer awards to hand out. Tickets begin at $75 and the show runs 8-11 p.m.

Of course, there's a trade show for everything in Las Vegas, and that includes adult entertainment. The AVN Novelty Expo (ANE) runs Jan. 22-24 as a showcase for the latest products. Whether it’s lotions and potions or a new set of “sex furniture,” the hottest items will be marketed though B2B events, including workshops, mixers and demonstrations. The industry-only three-day event is often described as a naughty and saucy answer to CES, and top products will be acknowledged during the 11th Annual O Awards at 9 p.m. on Jan. 23.

The Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) is Jan. 20-25 and a more fan-friendly experience, with general admission tickets starting at $90. Guests and industry members alike can meet and mingle with more than 700 adult stars and 400 exhibitors representing brands and services. While most of the action will be on the floor of the Hard Rock’s conference and expo space, The Lair is a secluded area on the top level of The Joint fully dedicated to bondage and fetish themes. AEE is also known for hosting lavish parties throughout the resort. At least 15 are scheduled this year. Some are held in private suites. Others, including the infamous LATATA White Party, take place at Vanity Nightclub.

Overall, the AVN Awards and affiliated week of events are a long-running tradition at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which is closing this year to be remodeled into a Virgin Hotel. An official announcement has yet to be made about the show and expo returning to the rebranded property in 2021.
