An unassuming enclave, the Wildlife Habitat almost begs you to ask, “Am I there yet?” If not for the colorful denizens hanging around, the habitat would have seemed like just a beautiful gateway to the pool. More than 300 birds reside on the 4-acre facility, with paths meandering throughout. You could spend a good amount of your day here and not realize it. Regardless of any imagined destination, you’ll quickly come to realize you’re right where you should be.

A swan dives into the water for an early dinner. The sacred ibis, regarded as such for eating crop-devastating locusts in ancient Egypt, wins the unofficial award for longest bill, while the Chilean flamingos provide a huge amount of color. In 2012, two pelicans from a wildlife rescue settled in.

There are a multitude of other birds as well, including songbirds, sparrows, tiny hummingbirds, ducks and swans. And in the water, a number of giant koi create an impressive assemblage underneath a footbridge.
