Get away this autumn with a trip along the paths of the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden and be whisked away to a woodland wonderland, a whimsical world of fairies, foxes, fall foliage and floral mushrooms.

The 14,000-square-foot conservatory is composed of several garden beds, and guests meander down paths passing each one in turn. Along the way, they get to know the denizens of this autumn landscape, from foxes to friendly bears, who seem to be checking out the viewers as much as the viewers are checking them out. In one section, fairies bedecked in ball gowns strike charming poses.

Several themes run through this season’s display, according to designer Ed Libby. “Into The Woods is filled with inspirations of transformation, reflection and empowerment told through magnificent floral creations,” he said in a recent announcement. You’ll also see those themes in the gazing pools near the foxes and fairies, and in the dragonflies fluttering over the central walkway within the conservatory.

There are plenty of gorgeous floral presentations to tickle your fancy, including huge mushrooms accenting each of the four beds, created in several styles and materials. In the south bed, Bellagio’s talking tree may startle you if you aren’t prepared for the moment.

And every bed features a different style of tree, from the loquacious elder to a walk-through creation, and a hand-hewn tree house. One particularly playful scene comes in the south bed, where bees have created a bounty of honey that those friendly bears are eyeing.

“Our fall display has been months in the making from conceptualization and design, and has been brought to life by the extraordinary horticulture team,” said Libby, who has worked with the conservatory since 2017 in creating the displays the Bellagio is famous for.

Each season, the horticultural team at the conservatory reshapes the gardens with a bounty of plants and a variety of themes, including a tribute to the culture of Japan earlier this year, which featured an enormous Hello Kitty. The Chinese New Year display is looked forward to every year, and features images of luck and prosperity. Spring sees an abundance of tulips and daffodils, while summer and winter hold their own charms—the holiday display is breathtaking. And 90 percent of plant material used is recycled at the end of the exhibit.

Peruse these scenes at all hours, as the conservatory is open 24 hours. However, unlike past seasons, fewer people will be allowed through the scenes at one time, and there is only one entrance and one exit. To make sure everyone sees the display, staff will encourage guests to continue along the route.
