It’s one of the most memorable shows ever to hit the Las Vegas Strip (it made our inaugural Hall of Fame list for 2020), and starting Oct. 28, Absinthe returns! There will be many changes to the experience itself, but rest assured, the chaotic, hilarious and extremely un-PC show you remember will be intact.

To begin with, the iconic spiegeltent outside Caesars Palace has installed an air purification system, and all rows of chairs have been removed in favor of cabaret-style seating (tables spaced six feet apart and seating parties from two to five). In addition, capacity at the show has been reduced from the usual 660 to 153 guests to allow for proper social distancing. All guests will be checked with no-contact temperature testing, masks will be mandatory during the performance, and the tent itself will be sanitized before and after each performance.

The lineup of Absinthe changes constantly, but the show’s signature characters—The Gazillionaire, his “assistant” Wanda Widdles, and The Green Fairy—are constants. And the show’s signature opening act—an acrobat who stacks chairs almost to the top of the tent, balancing himself on his hands at the very end—will have you holding your breath from beginning to end.

This is a show that practically demands you have a cocktail before, during and yes, after the show. And while the bar will no longer allow guests to line up for their drinks, have no fear—table service will be provided to ensure the proper levels of intoxication.

Show producer Ross Mollison was positively beaming about the show’s return in an announcement to the press. “Absinthe is uniquely positioned to allow us to present the same raunchy, hilarious show in a way that should give everybody involved complete confidence to laugh, cheer and watch in wonder. We can’t wait to welcome audiences back for a much-needed shot of Absinthe.”
