A lot of fabulous festivals were postponed or canceled over the past year, but you can still catch one of Southern Nevada’s best as the 17th Annual Dam Short Film Festival continues on in virtual mode. This year, 162 films were chosen for the festival, so there’s sure to be something for everyone.

“Filmmaking continues to be an important and impactful art that we are honored to share with movie lovers,” said Tsvetelina Stefanova, the Dam Short Film Festival executive director, in a recent release. “The Dam Short Film Society received more film submissions this year than any years past. The quality, passion and just pure fun of these films deserves to be shared and enjoyed. We’re excited that we were able to pivot and find a safe way for the Dam Short Film Festival audience to experience our festival.

From Feb. 11-15, you can check out all 162 films, or focus in on a specific theme or genre through 26 special programs with several films in each one (lasting up to 75 minutes). Programs topics include animation, crime and consequence, documentary, avant garde, romance, personal journeys, and many more. Household passes are only $100, and special programs are only $12. And since it’s virtual, you can get the whole family involved—and you don’t even need to get out of your PJs! But the films themselves are only part of the festival. Catch Q&As with filmmakers and the awards ceremony, too. Go to damshortfilm.org for more information and to purchase your pass.

A quick side note: This year, artists competed to create a film poster for the event, and there were 32 submissions, including that of Las Vegas Magazine’s Brooke Everson, who won the competition. (Her poster art can be seen above.) Go, Brooke!
