It’s not often that a Las Vegas attraction becomes known as much for its educational benefits as for its entertainment value, but Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat is all that and more. It opened in 1990 when the legendary duo began their iconic residency at The Mirage, and it’s an absolutely perfect tribute to their legacy, both in the animals that reside there and its ongoing contributions to the local community (Sadly, we lost both men in the span of a year. Roy Horn died last May at the age of 75 from complications of coronavirus; Siegfried Fischbacher passed away this week at the age of 81).

In addition to housing the white tigers that performed in Siegfried & Roy’s show, the habitat is home to four generations of dolphins. The birth of baby dolphins here is a major event, and there have been many over the years. It’s a major destination for school field trips, and sees hundreds of thousands of visitors a year, some of whom choose to swim with the dolphins for memories that will last a lifetime. The habitat also contains leopards and lions, not to mention a Sustainability Discovery Center, focusing on wildlife preservation, water conservation and ocean pollution.
