It was Seals & Crofts’ song lyric, “Summer breeze/makes me feel fine.” Or was it “Summer drinks/make me feel fine”? Yeah, we like that sound of that one better. Get your summertime cocktailing on with some new seasonal drinks recently introduced at a few of the popular eateries at The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian and The Palazzo. It’s a taste tour of the flavors of summer, and the first stop is Smith & Wollensky. Grab a seat at the first-floor bar area of the steakhouse, or take it upstairs to the more intimate and upscale bar and order the refreshing classic, the Aperol spritz. Here, the recipe calls for Aperol, LaLuca prosecco and club soda—it’s a thirst-quenching, easily drinkable, will-get-ya-feeling-relaxed cocktail.

The flavors of citrus just scream summer, and mixed with some Latin flavors ... well, it can’t get any better. At celebrity chef Lorena Garcia’s Chica, the new seasonal cocktail La Medicina is a balanced and vibrant blend of Maestro Dobel Diamante tequila and 400 Conejos Joven mezcal with ginger honey syrup and lemon.

An impressively designed hot spot for a blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisines, SushiSamba splits its creative energy between the cuisine and cocktail offerings. Perfect for a summertime cooldown is the new Chucumber cocktail, served martini-style. It’s a blend of shochu, maraschino liqueur, plum sake and plum bitters with sliced cucumber and lime juice. While at SushiSamba, make sure to also dig into the extensive Japanese whiskey offerings. You can even book a seven-course chef’s tasting menu paired with small-batch Japanese whiskeys.

The last stop in this story, The X Pot, is worth a visit just to look inside the space, which is modern and visually beautiful, with high-def, 360-degree changing projections and light and sound shows. The cuisine is based off of the centuries-old Chinese hot pot cooking tradition, and the specialty cocktails follow its flavors. Kick it inside the lounge area and order the new Chai Tai in a cool-looking glass. A twist on the favorite chai tea, this cocktail mixes Plantation pineapple rum, Le Verger French Terroir liqueur, Nectar Chai tea, coconut syrup, pineapple juice and fresh-squeezed lemon juice.
