You read the books, saw the movies and imagined what it would be like to inhabit in the world of Panem. Now you can join the rebellion without having to worry about being attacked by a hive of genetically altered hornets or blade-wielding Tributes, as The Hunger Games: The Exhibition awaits inside the District at MGM Grand. Superfans can get up close to actual costumes worn by actors, interact with touch-responsive tech features and pull arrows back in bows to shoot exploding targets in the virtual shooting range that is the highlight of the attraction.

Author Suzanne Collins may not have envisioned The Hunger Games: The Exhibition when she first imagined the dystopian universe seen through the eyes of teenage Katniss Everdeen, but young adult readers of all ages have been imagining themselves as resourceful protagonists trying to survive amid chaos and rebellion. Now they can place themselves in locations from the film franchise such as the Hall of Justice, the Tribute Train and District 13. Garments worn by Josh Hutcherson, Donald Sutherland and Jennifer Lawrence are on display, including Katniss’ exquisite bridal gown.

Interactive features provide opportunities to edit together film sequences with a selfie, get a closer look at fictional settings and manipulate computer-generated designs of creatures from the series. Then pretend you’re in the movie with the archery simulation at the end of the tour. After some instruction, visitors are hustled into Beetee’s Lab, where bows and arrows await. There is a slight learning curve, but once participants get the hand of setting arrow notches into the bowstring, it’s an explosive indulgence in fun.

Photo ops end the tour, with one for $15 and three for $25 opportunities to capture the moment, but guests are welcome to snap away with cell phones as they proceed through The Hunger Games: The Exhibition. There are plenty of photo ops for the Hunger Games faithful. Just don’t touch the costumes or plan on staying permanently.
