One of the greatest discoveries in history is celebrating its 100th anniversary at Luxor Hotel & Casino with Discovering King Tut’s Tomb—The Experience. You’ll feel like you’re right alongside Egyptologist Howard Carter when he unearthed King Tutankhamun’s tomb (the most preserved of any pharaoh to date) through an exhibition that both recounts his experiences and sheds light on an ancient civilization.

You’ll start by going along a passageway to the burial chamber and view the story of King Tut through several different technologies. There are animations that go into the process of mummification, galleries that examine archeological practices through the ages and pods of virtual reality chairs that take you into King Tut’s tomb. It’s both an immersive, entertaining experience and a highly educational one. You’ll also be able to view more than 300 replicas of artifacts. (Says Zaller, “If you want to see the original King Tut artifacts, the only way you can see them is in Egypt when they open the new Grand Egyptian Museum.”)

“I have been fortunate enough to travel to Egypt and it is a magical place,” said Tom Zaller, President and CEO of Imagine Exhibitions, which brought the exhibit to Luxor. “My hope with this exhibition is that we can, just for a moment, transport guests to the Valley of the Kings along the Nile River, and introduce them to one of the greatest archeological discoveries of all time. And what better place to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the discovery than at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas?”

You can find Discovering King Tut’s Tomb—The Experience on the Luxor’s atrium level (next to Titanic: The Exhibition), and it will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. You can either walk through at your leisure or take an audio tour (led by Carter himself). Tickets start at $20 for children 4-12 and $30 for adults.
