Be prepared to enter a space that will spark wonder, confusion, amusement, inebriation … or sometimes all of the above. The Cabinet of Curiosities at Bally’s on the Las Vegas Strip, is a bar and lounge like no other.

Yes, it has a bar with ample seating, and you could choose to spend your time there, people-watching and enjoying a menu full of tasty signature cocktails like the Mystical Monday Typewriter, made with vodka, curacao and caravella orangecella, or the Peachtree Sweet Tea, a delicious blend of gin, rum and vodka, along with peach liqueur, yuzu and sweet tea.

But make sure to turn around to experience the wonderment just behind you: Cabinets full of objects from around the world, most of which have tales to tell. All you have to do is scan a QR code, which turns your smart phone into a decoder. Simply zero in one of the dozens of items, find the four-digit code, type it into your decoder, and you might get an in-depth tale involving the object.

You could literally spend hours discovering all the stories stored within the cabinets (and drawers) of this bar, but you’ll want to do some more exploring, specifically to The Lock, the hidden speakeasy within The Cabinet of Curiosities. Simply pick up the telephone located just outside The Lock’s large door, and a voice on the other end will give you your special password.

Once you’ve delivered the password at the door, you’ll be ushered into an antechamber that contains two different passages to The Lock. The gatekeeper will present you with a series of puzzles. Once you’ve solved the puzzles in order, you’ll have the code to gain access to a very stylish, exclusive-feeling space.

Here's where things get really interesting. On your coaster, you’ll find a list of questions, along with choices you can select. For example, where it asks, “Current Mood?” you can select “Collected,” “Jolly,” “Adventurous” or “Naughty.” Based on your answers to all questions, your server will bring out a cocktail designed just for you.
