If you’re of a certain age, Menopause The Musical will surely seem familiar. Although the plot simply has four women meeting after squabbling over a piece of lingerie in a department store, it’s far more than that. During the course of the show, the symptoms of the change are explored, all through musical parodies and witty dialogue between women from all walks of life.

You’ll meet the crunchy earth mother character, the former soap star, the high-powered executive, and the Midwest housewife, and when you’re not nodding your head in understanding, you’ll be rocking back and forth in laughter. As the women travel up and down the departments in the store, they talk about the symptoms of the change with each other, and each new symptom seems to bring a song.

The ladies belt out such gems as “Change, Change, Change” (“Chain of Fools”), “Hot Flash” (“Heat Wave”), “Looking for Food” (“Looking for Love”), “Puff, My God, I’m Dragging” (“Puff the Magic Dragon”), “Staying Awake/Night Sweats” (“Stayin’ Alive”), and many others. As funny as the rewritten lyrics are, they’re made that much funnier when paired with the expressions on the actors’ faces.

No matter your age or gender, you’ll get a kick out of the show. And even if you’re not directly affected by the change, you might develop sympathy for the women in your life.
