Comedy in Las Vegas is experiencing a bit of a renaissance, with headliners popping up all over the place and new comedy clubs appearing, too. The L.A. Comedy Club has been a destination for fans of the funny for more than 15 years here in Vegas, including nine at The STRAT. And with a new showroom custom-built last year (the Dragon Room), it’s likely to continue there for the foreseeable future.
Each night, you will find several shows to choose from, including a Happy Hour Variety Show at 6 p.m., where Julio Gonzalez performs. Gonzalez is well known in L.A. and has plied his trade across the Southwest for several years, and here in Vegas acts as genial host for a myriad of other acts that change out each week.
At 8 p.m., you’ll find a traditional rotating lineup of comedians, and this week, from May 15-21, you can check out J.C. Currais, who got his start at the opposite side of the country from Gonzalez. The Miami-born Currais brings an eclectic mix of styles to the stage and has a unique viewpoint. Also appearing this week is Ralph Guerra.
Going a little later each night at 10 p.m. are comedians Bret Ernst, pictured (Tuesday and Wednesday), and Vegas favorite Butch Bradley (Thursday through Sunday), each of whom is joined by guest comedians.
Prices are reasonable, and considering the plethora of acts, you’ll find that even the VIP package is worth the price of admission.
