So, you’ve ended up in town during the Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix—how neat! Whether you came to town to be a part of the race weekend festivities or you just happened to unintentionally book your trip during F1 week, you’ll have a whole lot more fun if you know what to expect.

This week’s inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix is the first of 10 races that will occur in the city. Each F1 race weekend takes place over three days, with the first two being for practices and qualifiers and the main event taking place on the third. The Vegas schedule includes two practices on Nov. 16, a third practice and a qualifier on Nov. 17 and the main event on Nov. 18. Nov. 17’s qualifier determines each driver’s starting position on the track.

The Las Vegas circuit is a 3.8-mile track with 17 turns that takes drivers past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. From the starting line at the site of the newly built Las Vegas Grand Prix Pit Building, racers will drive 50 laps to complete a total race distance of about 192.7 miles.

If you can’t secure a spot to watch the race in person, you can watch it exclusively on ESPN. And since you’re in Vegas, there’s a plethora of bars and lounges that offer high-def TVs, comfortable seating and swanky ambience for your viewing pleasure.
