It’s nonsensical. It’s weird. It’s sometimes even a little gross. But that’s what we love about Blue Man Group.

The almost-extraterrestrial characters embody a sort of innocence that makes them lovable and, dare I say, cute. After all, who doesn’t adore three blue-painted men in black mocknecks that don’t speak as they curiously explore the mundane world around them?

The trio of mute performers and a groovy band put on a show like no other. The music alone is lively and upbeat, featuring sounds made not only by traditional instruments, but with MacGyver-style sound makers that the eccentric cast playfully employ throughout the show.

The lively room becomes filled with laughter when the Blue Men begin their shenanigans—throwing marshmallows to one another, using just their mouths and some gumballs to create brightly colored art, and sitting down to enjoy some Twinkies (in a slightly disturbing way) with a special guest plucked right from the audience. Trust us, you may never look at the beloved snack cake quite the same way again after this.

Speaking of audience participation, be prepared to have a close encounter no matter where you sit as the crew does roam the entire theater, creating many opportunities for the crowd to become part of the madness. And if you dare come late, you’ll have your own special moment in the spotlight.

For fans who just can’t get enough of the painted pals, worry not. When you buy your ticket, you can opt for a VIP experience that includes an in-show refreshment, a swag bag and a backstage tour.

Once the last of the toilet paper falls (yes, you read that right), you’ll be whisked away to the very corridor where the Blue Men practice their percussion and warm up before the show. You’ll be able to peruse some of the show’s history, and a Blue Man or two may make an appearance while you’re there. Don’t forget to snap a picture and get your VIP lanyard “signed.”
