If you’ve spent time scrolling lately, chances are you’ve heard the words: “You ever think the wind is trying to tell us something and we don’t know how to hear it anymore?” Whether you’ve seen an Instagram reel or TikTok of someone lip-syncing to the viral sound or the original clip of Theo Von uttering those wise words on The Joe Rogan Experience, your funny bone was probably tickled. And if it was, you’re in luck, because Von hits the stage at the Resorts World Theatre, Oct.27-28, when his Return of the Rat tour rolls into town.

While the comedian is known for his lovable and occasionally nonsensical brand of comedy, Von’s popularity stems much deeper than a popular audio bite. In fact, his success reaches even further than comedy as he’s known as a television personality, podcaster and actor, having started his entertainment career in 2000 on MTV’s Road Rules: Maximum Velocity Tour. In the years following, Von appeared on four seasons of MTV’s The Challenge, NBC’s Last Comic Standing and Comedy Central’s Reality Bites Back.

Much time has passed since Von’s reality television days, and many hilarious projects have come to fruition in that time, like Von’s This Past Weekend podcast, which he started in 2016 and continues to host. The long-form video podcast, which is released weekly, garners hundreds of thousands of views each week and often fuels the internet’s ongoing desire for hilarious snippets of Von’s irresistible personality. As Von chats with hysterical guests like comedy juggernaut Tom Segura, professional wrestler Ric Flair and television personality Mike Rowe (who you may know from Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs), he explores a wide variety of topics, often ending up off topic in the most enjoyable way.

Von also co-hosted King and The Sting, a podcast featuring Brendan Schaub, which eventually became King, The Sting and The Wing when jokester Chris D’Elia became its third host. Shortly after, the show morphed into The Golden Hour, and Von ended his tenure as a host.

If you haven’t indulged in Von’s podcast directly, more likely than not you’ve had the chance to enjoy him on one of your favorite comedy podcasts like fellow funnyman Bert Kreischer’s Bertcast and Impaulsive with internet personality Logan Paul.

While Von’s humor and wit shine through in the relaxed, free-flowing setting of a podcast studio, his ventures in stand-up comedy prove that he’s capable of much more than just a few quick quips. In fact, he’s got three specials under his belt, each with its own collection of side-splitting punchlines. No Offense, released in 2016, and Regular People, released in 2021, are currently available for streaming on Netflix, and Von’s 2017 album, 30lb Bag of Hamster Bones, can be found on most music streaming platforms.

Despite having the ability to generate seemingly random and slightly confusing remarks, Von is easy to identify with. He spits out thoughts as they come to him and his candid nature has an air of sincerity that allows his presence to feel genuinely comfortable—part of what makes his comedy so inviting.
